Question about an ITU rule

im from israel and we race here by ITU rules, this week they added some wierd rule about forbidding tri spokes (or any wheel under 16 spokes) to be used in a draft legal race among Elite and Age groupes.
i understand why its forbidden for the elite, but why for the age groupers? and what the hell am i going to do with my HED 3’s? damn im pissed off.

Would this mean no disc either?

Dave

yep no disc to,were only talking about draft legal races though…
this is not fair.

Just out of interest why does it make more sense for it to be an elite rule than one that applies to AGers too?

In any event I think the point is a safety one - the idea (I’ve no idea whether this would actually be borne out by tests) is that you’re more likely to lose fingers in a crash with tri-spokes than normal spoked wheels.

But why no disc then since it had zero spokes.

Dave

now I’m guessing but probably handling - a gust of wind that chucks you a few inches sideways is no biggy if you’re not drafting but could be very dangerous in a pack of riders half of whom had disks and half of whom did not.

Man, think of the noise of a pack of riders, all on discs…that could be loud
.

Would this mean no disc either?
