I have had my quarq for several years. Very satisfeid with it. It has worked its way through several chainrings, but I have never recalibrated the slope.
Now I did a test of my slope. The factory setting was 9.52 and the mesured slope is now 9.70. I did not recalibrate the slop since the season has not quite ended. When the last race has been completet I want to redo the slope to the correct value.
What changes in wattage can I expect with a .18 change in slope? Are we talking minimal differences or has my powermeter been way off? And in what way does my power shift?
My last test gave me a FTP of 304 watt. I have been fighting a while to hit the 300 mark, so can I now expect to be bumped below again? Know in real lift it means only a little, but the 300 mark was a great achievement for me so I would be a litte bummed to realize that the test perhaps only was a 295 result
Also - does anybody have a look into the algorithms of the powermeter? And what does the -250 zero offset “means” in value, and how much off is the powermeter if the zero offset is 10 off…?
This is all really good info on here.
If you would ever like to double check the calibration of your powermeter, we can always bring this in for a factory calibration at no charge other than shipping. As for the Zero Offset, this can be directly equated to tarring a scale before weighing anything. There will be minor changes in the materials from day to day so a zero offset should always be done before riding for the most accurate results.
