My Garmin 310xt detects my Quark Power Meter, but it doesn’t read any power data. I’ve calibrated it, re-scanned it, etc. But it just won’t pick up any power readings. Does anybody have an idea about what might be going on? ANy help will be greatly appreciated…
Magnet.
Magnet.
May be the shortest but, MOST helpful reply ever! Thank you! My LBS moved my Quark from my old bike to my new bike. I’ll bet they forgot to move the magnet (or maybe it fell off). I’ll call them today. Thanks again.
If you load the latest firmware, you won’t need a magnet anymore.
I believe that is only if he has a current generation model

I have an Elsa or Riken. Can’t remember which. How do I load the firmware?

there is a link in there to the s/w to upgrade the fw

I believe, but not 100% sure…his PM would not wake up without a magnet if it was an old version.
I’ve had to double up on magnets once or twice just to get the recommended space between the magnet and the PM. I would check that if your magnet did get moved. Or like the other folks were saying, upgrade the firmware.

True, but he could jam a magnet close to the spider just to wake it up or remove it from the bike a move a magnet near it to wake it up and load the firmware.

Doesn’t explain why it wakes up in the first place for his 310 to detect it.
ANy idea where I can get the USB2 Ant+ stick?
Do you have any Garmin watches that came with an Ant+ stick?
If you don’t have one from your Garmin watch as mentioned by Gman, you can find them on Amazon or eBay.

I have the Ant+ Stick that came with my Garmin 310xt. But this requires ANTUSB2 or ANTUSB-m stick, which I’ve never heard of until now…

These are just slightly updated versions of what you have. One of them looks the same as yours with double the ANT+ channels and the other is a small form factor version with the higher channel count.
If you have an iOS device you can get a Wahoo ANT+ dongle and use the Qalvin app. Bummer is for iOS with Lightning plug you need adapter for 30 pin dongle. I like having this set up for battery level checks and the occasional firmware update.
There are Android options too, but as I’m not familiar with those I can’t comment.
Thanks everybody. I had an extra ANT+ Stick in my workout room and it turned out to be the USB2 type. So, I got it all plugged in and set up and managed to update the firmware on my Quark using the Qalvin download for Mac.
There is such a wealth of knowledge on Slowtwitch, so THANKS to everybody who took the time to help out with this. I REALLY appreciate it!
Is it picking up power now ?
Great to hear! Let us know how it works for you.
