Does anyone know if the qualifying spots that you can get for the IM USA events at events like Fliroda Half, Gulf Coast, Eagelman… typically get taken? I’m just wondering about the likelihood of getting a spot at one of those qualifiers rather than signing up a whole yar ahead of time for an IM race.
I got a spot to LP last year at the disney half. Pretty much all I had to do was show up to the roll down and pay my money. Not sure if it’s typically that easy.
Like Reblak I got a spot to IMF at the Disney Fla 1/2 in 2004. Basically, if you finished you could have gotten a spot to just about any race you wanted. Spots to IM Canada seemed to be at slightly more of a premium.
In 2003 I got a spot to IMF at Eagleman. That was a bit closer of a call, with only being 10 IMNA spots available a couple people who wanted spots were not able to get a spot and either selected a different race or chose not to do the race.
The Disney 1/2 had the most spots to IMNA races so your odds seem best at that race. But it seems to the demand for IMNA spots at qualifying races is increasing so it may not be as easy this year or next.

Well, at Gulf Coast this past weekend I got one to Florida. Like others have said, all you pretty much had to do was show up and wait in line. I got there early just in case but they still have slots left even after everyone who wanted one got one.
Muskoka long course and Peterborough 1/2iron both have spots - LP, Florida, Wisconsin, and Canada at Muskoka, just Canada at Peterborough. Info for both races is at www.trisportcanada.com. Muskoka is June 19, Peterborough is July 10. The rolldown action at Muskoka is fast and furious!

Ummm…Isn’t August 14th several weeks after IMLP?
How do the roll downs work? Is the cost the same as in general entry?
