Qualifying for USAT Oly Nationals?!?!

From the website. I apologize if this has been covered before, but this looks pretty damn hard to do. In regards to criteria #2, which appears to be the easiest to meet, I always thought it was top 30%?! Top 10% in an age group! If there are “only” 20 in my age group, I have to get second?: Regional championships and regional “special designated ” international distance races will qualify the top 33 percent or top five finishers (whichever is easiest to fill) in each age group.
Any non-championship USAT sanctioned event will qualify the top 10 percent or top finisher (whichever is easiest to fill) in each age-group.
Any athlete who has ever competed as a member of Team USA (triathlon or duathlon) will automatically qualify.
All-American and honorable mention All-Americans from the 2004 USAT National Rankings automatically qualify.
The top 10 finishers in each age group from the 2004 USAT National Age Group Championship automatically qualify

Just buy the gold membership and you are in without having to qualify.

Dave

I’ve qualified twice, but they still won’t let me in.

??

commit a faux pas?

Born in the wrong year.

That and that handlebar taping fiasco.

care to expand a touch or is this undesired territory?

Just send in an entry form with a cashiers check. I bet they cash it, I believe their entries are low so far this year… They really need to find a nice venue for this race, Kansas City in August. It could quite possibly be the hottest and most humid day of the year. I guess if you are into ribs it could be fun…

USAT site claims 900+ entries…43% women.

serious? why?

I’ve posted before complaining about it. You have to be twenty or twenty-one to compete.

get otta here!

had no clue about that wise and clearly well thought out provision.

what a crock.

Based on the most recent entry list:

389 women, 533 men. Total 922.

yes, that changed this year if memory serves.

The ‘regional’ champs/qualifier top 33% is the easiest way to get in now, I think.
