Speaking of crazy, anyone here ever done a quadruple century?

How many people register for these things? How many people can finish 400 mi. in a day? My ass is sore just thinking about it.

I just partially answered my own question. No one did the Grand Tour quad in '04. 20 people finished the triple – still pretty impressive.

A good friend of mine did 466 miles in 24 hours: http://www.ultracycling.com/results/n24hc2000.html
I did a triple marathon in 12hrs once…this sounds like my cup of tea…where do I sign?
you guys are killing me
.
My triathlon coach is training for RAAM right now. He just placed second in an ultracycling race in Alabama. The race was 500 miles. He finished in 36 hrs. The winner was a professional european cyclist… he finished in 29 hrs, crushing the previous record of 32 hrs.
These guys are truly hard-core.

Over how many days. ![]()
That’s nuts. I’m like you - getting a sore butt already.
Do you realize (I’m sure you do, but it’s still incredible to me) that in order to bike 466 miles in 24 hours, you would have to average 19.4 mph for the entire 24 hours. That’s not accounting for potty, re-fueling, stretching breaks. Damn.
hadn’t seen it in that light…now that makes my eyes water
