Got one… now i have some explainin to do. :S
Nice! I thought that price would only be for the frameset, but it’s for the whole bike!
Good thing I’ve already got a Seduza, otherwise I’d have to find some way to pony up $1700
what wheels did it come with? mine came the Real Design
Supersonic 60’s which are basically Flashpoint rims with
Real Hubs(that look like Tune hubs) - my LBS was crying
when i got them down to $2500 for mine, $1750 is a steal.
Looks like it comes with Alex San Remo wheels. Don’t know much about them, except they are 40mm carbon clinchers with carbon hubs and weigh 1655g. We’ll see how they hold up under 200lbs. At that price I can hardly complain.

Or maybe I’ll get a set of the Reynolds SDVT 700 they have up on bonktown.com right now for $999. ![]()
That was one of the those instances where I wish I wasn’t a poor college student
.
Some pretty sick stuff popping up on those deal sites lately. So far I’ve been able to control myself from diving into anything too crazy.
a friend at work has the San Remo wheelset on his Tequilo;
they are decently fast and seem durable enough, despite
being Alex wheels. There are some build kits for the Caliente
that don’t include deep wheels at all. i’d say pick up a HED
C2-90 rear for a windy race day(keeping the san remo front)
and be done with it, a 40f-90r is perfect for windy conditions.
edit: if you feel like the brakes are lacking a bit just change
the pads first, they are stiff enough for tris, and we shouldn’t
be slowing down anyhow. another upgrade would be to switch
out the ultra race tires - i’m currently on Conti Attack/Force
Chili combo which are great. the Ultra Race were harsh at
100psi and gooshy at less than 90-95 AND i got pinch flats.
congrats on the buy - great price. hope you got the right size…
edit2: the saddle is also a good upgrade candidate

Thanks for the tips. I’m most concerned with getting the bike to fit first. While I’ve been on road bikes for close to 20 years now, this will be my first full fledged tri bike. I know, i know… i probably should should have gone to a shop and got fit, etc., etc.; but hey I’m cheap and I like nice things. At least bonktown has a 100% satisfaction guarantee return policy, so hopefully they’ll let me swap it out if it ends up being too small (i’m right in between a M and an L; i got the M). Anyway, my fingers are crossed and I’m excited.
If it is too small, you give me a pm, Ill take it off your hands for 1800. ![]()
