Im going to give QR a call probably today about this but before I did I was wondering if anyone has had any recent dealings with QR about warrantying a wetsuit. I have a 2006 ultrafull and the seem above and to the right of the zipper is coming open. This is most definitely product failure and I can see no glue for the seem there at all. SO I’m fairly confident that it is a warranty issue. SO the other question is this worth warrantying the suit over? DO they fix suits or just send you a new one? Would I be better off getting a wetsuit repair kit and just putting some glue on the seem?
Same problem except had Superfull rip out in 4 places from poor stitching/gluing. Absolutely ZERO customer support from those bastards at QR. They are in the same league as Dell computer in terms of customer support…connect you to some 25 cent an hour bimbo in India who doesnt speak english.
My solution…never buy anything from QR!!! Bikes and wetsuits
I have a T1 wetsuit now and it has none of the quality problems and excellent customer service.
I would have called them first before posting here. Just my 2 cents.
Doesn’t hurt to have a little info before hand. And the OP did nothing to insuate the poor craftmanship was a result of a bad company. That was the result of other posters. The OP was merely seeking advice. I saw no problem.
Don’t have much positive to say about their wetsuit cust svc. My old Superfull blew out (seams unstitched and glue failed) within two months of purchase. I figured I was doing something wrong until a tri club mate had the same experience with the HydroFull. When we called to find out about repair/warranty, were were told that we’d be charged for the repair, on suits that were not even 6 months out from purchase. I called around and got a repair quote from a place in Santa Cruz called Blown Out Wetsuit Repair, sent it to them to fix, and eBayed it as soon as it came back. Then I bought a First Wave. Our local tri shop said that they’d had largely unpleasant experiences dealing with warranty issues on their suits too - from a retailer standpoint!
Buy a DeSoto suit. You won’t be disappointed at all.
For the record.
ABG Wetsuit policy: any suit within the period of warranty will be repaired or replaced BUT only to the orginal owner. There may be instances where the suit has been traded on and this does invalidate the warranty. I read posts of complaint and stories that i find hard to believe as the warranty manager runs every wetsuit under my nose.If ANYBODY had a suit and receipt showing after 2/4/6 months a seam came undone then this would be dealt with, thus some of the stories i am seeing do very much confuse me! I would very much like to see the suits and the receipts.
We have a policy, it works, we are very generous and it pains me to have accusations of lack of service when for years the team from San Diego and here in Ooltewah have held the reputation of being the best in the business.
Thank you all for the comments.

FWIW: I worked in a surf shop a few years back. Most if not all wetsuit companys would fix any suit with seam problems for free. And most surfers are very hard on wetsuits. I have several wetsuits and have had them in to have the seams fix several times…No questions asked.
I have NEVER had any issues with customer service from ABG
.
Just to throw in my 2 cents. I bought a QR Superfull (which I really like) this spring and it tore in 2 small places in the crotch area at my first race. Ended up dealing with Dean directly and he was super helpful in getting me a new suit in time for my next race. This involved him fed ex-ing me a new suit overnight so I had it before I left for Musselman. Dean, and thus QR, went above and beyond for me and I remain a loyal QR customer.
“Most if not all wetsuit companys would fix any suit with seam problems for free.”
typically, surf wetsuits are sewn on the outside as well, so they don’t have seam separations. in my exerpience their warranties are not close to what QR has historically offered, and i know this because i caught high holy hell from certain surf wetsuit companies when we first offered our 2yr, no fault warranty 20 years ago.
when a QR has a seam separate, it is most likely not a 2007 or prior suit. the glue the chinese use is bombproof. it’s probably among the last of QR’s U.S.-made suits. these did not use glue as strong as the chinese glue, because it is not allowed in the U.S. because of OSHA and EPA restrictions. still, most of the U.S. QRs are fine, and will not come unglued.
when i hear of a glued suit splitting its seams it’s either a suit made here stateside or it’s a suit made in thailand. for some reason various wetsuit companies have not learned that tri wetsuits coming from one or more thai factories have a history of coming apart at the seams at a higher rate than suits made in other countries (i’m thinking of two wetsuit brands in particular who’ve had bad luck). i suspect it’s because of the humidity in those factories, and the glue can’t properly set up. but i’m just guessing.
