QR Tiphoon Sizing Question

I am trying to get an idea on how sizing runs on the 2005 QR Tiphoon. Local shop doesn’t have any in stock right now. I am 6 ft, long legs, and like to ride at about 76 degrees. Currently ride an older KM40 size 56 and it fits pretty well though the top tube is a tad too long for me. I am leaning towards the 55. Anyone out there riding one that is about my size?

Of course I could always order 3 sizes from Trizilla and figure it out myself.

That’s huge.

No no no. You have to order three different sizes from three different stores.

One thing to keep in mind, (to my understanding) QR’s tend to have short top-tubes. A 55 fits more like a 53, a 57 fits more like a 55, ect…
I’m 5’10" and I ride a 57. I could probably squeeze into a 55, but all I’ve got is the 57, and I’m not having a problems.

For whatever its worh. I’m 5’11 and ride a 55 Blade. Was told I’d need a 57 Tiphoon b/c of the short top tube.

R2R,

I think the 55 work work for you. I’m 5’10" and am riding a 55 '05 TiPhoon, have a fairly avg build (leg:torso ratio). Even though you’re 2" taller than I, we probably have the same length torso.

Hope that helps.

Same thoughts as everyone else here, I am 5’11 and rode a 57cm TiPhoon as the top tubes are a little shorter than other brands.

R2R,

I am 6’1" and ride the 57cm but I like a steep angle 80’ (measured 14cm back from saddle tip). Your 76’ may be better on a 55cm. It depends on your proportionality, amount of drop you want for the same saddle height (without having the queer 6.5cm of stackers).

I would recommend getting a professional fit and then determining which one works - money well spent. Find out which frame size would allow you the more comfortable position that generates more sustainable wattage.

Call me later and I would be willing to send you my 57cm in a case to try out. There is no better bike on the market - PERIOD.

I am 5’10", 31" inseam, 72cm saddle height, and I ride a 55cm Tiphoon. Sizing was not a problem. I mail ordered a 53 from Performance, 55 from Trizilla, and a 57 from Nashbar and knock on wood the 55 from Trizilla fit me otherwise I would’ve been stuck with $6000 in store credit. But seriously, the bike is a phenomenol bike. You’ll love racing on it. You’ll love staring at it. You’ll just plain love it. Good luck with your sizing and purchase.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I can go either way 55 or 57. In terms of spacers - I am not that flexible so ride a little higher than most so I will not be dropping it down too far - does that fact suggest a 57 would be better?

I agree on getting a professinal fit as my last fit was done by Mr. Demerly when I was living in Detroit but now am not so lucky (well lucky to be away from all that %$^ snow) but will have a problem getting a professional fit.

Compare the wheelbase for each bike.

The 55 is 98.6 and the 57 is 100.2…so what do I infer from that?
