QR Lucero

Is it all that it’s built up to be?

Is it worth the $$$?

Assuming one could buy an Ultegra 10 speed Lucero built with Real Design Ultrasonic 60s for same price as the standard build with the entry level Real Design Supersonic 40s and $1000 cheaper than the Dura-Ace build, would it be a wise choice to save the $1000? Oh yea, and is it worth upgrading to the Vision brake levers?

And would you give up your P3 for one?

…not worth the upgrade to 10 speed. Dave Harju loves his. I believe Francois is riding one too. I’ve been eyeing it as well a the Guru Carbonio tri…

so you are saying, not worth upgrading from Ultegra 10 speed to DA 10 speed?

Francois went from a P3 to a Lucero , ask him what he prefers…

I’m not sure how you could rely on someone else’s opinion about something so subjective… but I have ridden a P3 extensively and find it to be too harsh for my taste. I’ve only ridden a friend’s Lucero for maybe 40 miles and I like it much more than the P3. I prefer the Tiphoon to both… mostly because it fits me better.

Thanks for the tip on Francois. I just shot him a PM.

fit being the key determining factor I agree that the Tiphoon is a very nice bike.

Take a look at the actual (real) seat tube angle on the QR Lucero. It might work out very well for you, it might not.

What is the actual seat post angle? and how does it compare to the KM40?

Weeman

Which bike would you say was more agressive in terms of front end?

QuintanaRooster,

Are you getting rid of your Tiphoon?

The Tiphoon and the Lucero are both GREAT bikes.
My choice of the Lucero over the Tiphoon is only due to the very short headtube of the Lucero that allows me to get low enough, whereas the headtube of the Tiphoon is definitely longer and it’s hard to get low when you already have the smallest size available.

Material wise, it’s a lot more comfie to travel with Ti though…you don’t care about scratches etc.

Now the Lucero is a super neat bike (search my post with pics in january sometime)

My ideal bike would be a custom made QR based on the Tiphoon but with

  1. full slopping geometry
  2. rest as the tiphoon, with rear wheel cutout, internal cable routings etc.
  3. super short headtube as on the Lucero
  4. 77 degree angle

This would be a KICK ASS bike…

but Herbert keeps using Ti to make custom beds now :-)Ti
