I never had this problem on 404s but it appears on the 808s you might experience a slight buldge or gap between two of the plastic screw thingys. How do people handle this? I know you can use some tape but I’m looking for a cleaner solution.

Don’t tighten the screws all the way. Just enough so that the cover touches the rim.
Not on an 808…but I set mine up w/o screws and ONLY tape. You need to buy the nicer electrical tape ($2.50/roll!) but I can’t think of a cleaner way. Most people can’t even tell that mine is a cover. I have recieved many “what brand of disk is that” questions.
Tape only. Not much cleaner than that. Ask The Jonnyo, maybe he can do an instrucional video about it.
I have always done mine inside to get out of the humidity, may not be an issue for you. Lay it down easy and slow. smoothing as you go and just a little bit of pressure. Let the wheel sit a few days if possible.
