However fast it is it will not be enough- it never is!
I don’t put out much power though with an average of 300 being a good 10 for me so i need all the help I can get! I am hoping to go under 22min on one of our local 10mile course, so far this year I have managed a 22:09. I am also hopping to have a go at going under 21mins (or getting as close as possbile) on one of the quicker - out of county courses. One of my mate rode a 20:40 on this course this year and I am usually within 20secs of him though he is a larger more powerful rider so the flatter course probably suit him more than it would me. Plus any significant time or energy saving during my half IM’s would be great.
Seconds count but of course the question is do they count enough to warrant the £1900 it would cost to upgraade my frame - still I now have an 808 front so maybe that will knock a second or so off my times
so in a different manner, let us ask these questions to the Dr.
what other race wheels do you own?
how long have you had them?
since you have acknowledged those are Blackwells, which of these wheels sets will you be riding for the majority of time trials & triathlons this year?

Hmm, it seems that my posts here have created a bit of confusion in your mind. I’ve never done a triathlon, haven’t owned a TT bike for several years, and in fact am at least temporarily retired from any type of racing. Moreover, to paraphrase the Talking Heads:
“…those are not my beautiful wheels…that’s not my beautiful bike…”
OTOH, this is my beautiful wife (in a position she won’t be using, BTW):
i’d be curious to know which of the seat holes your wife is using (it looks like the aft one?) and why. would you be interested to share her reasoning?
what track events does plan on racing with this bike?
Blackwell stickers on the stands for the bike, Blackwell wheels, Blackwell saddle…John Cobb in the pictures.
I am not criticizing you, obviouslly you’re free to use what you want and talk to who you want.
But for anyone looking to draw some conclusions as to what the fastest front wheel is, this picture sort of presents the conflict of interest issues you have raised regarding some of Frank’s PC studies.

She’s a pursuiter, and hence by UCI rules must have the nose of her saddle at least 5 cm behind the b.b. Depending on the saddle, that could probably be achieved using either hole (I haven’t tried), but I used the rear one because 1) I think it looks better, and 2) it makes it easier to reach the “mint box” should you feel the need for some on-the-bike refreshment.

That’s right…and I’m fortunate enough (or my wife is fortunate enough) to be able to call on people like John Cobb, Gerard Vroomen, Jim Martin, etc., in the never-ending quest for “free speed”. It seems to me that it would be rude to not acknowledge their absolutely invaluable support.

Only if I were presenting data and/or making claims about what is the fastest wheel…which I’m not. (Also, unlike Frank’s support of at least one study of PowerCranks, I’ve disclosed my potential conflicts-of-interest.)

I know you say that this isn’t a position she’ll be using, but I’ve got a few suggestions about that helmet (if that will be the one she uses.)
It needs to be tilted back on her head a bit more. You can adjust the angle of the “around the back of the head strap” to help accomplish this.
You should try it out WITH the visor as well…I recently took some interesting “field test” data on visor/no visor with that helmet…let’s just say that the blanket statement that “all helmets test slower with a visor” may not necessarily be true.
ah, you somehow got the special carbon bike seat post mint box that only the priviledged few get …
I didn’t realize that they were in short supply? (I also didn’t know what it was, and had to ask!)

I agree 100%…I am just saying to others who see this picture they shouldn’t think “Oh well AC is using the BR100 front, it must be the fastest.” I am not accusing you of making claims, just the opposite, saying that people should not interpret this pciture as you doing that.

Correct. OTOH, they should also know that I told my wife that I supported her decision to return to competition, but that I thought that this time it should be a no-holds-barred, spare-no-expense, leave-no-stone-unturned effort (and I’ve got the credit card bills to prove it! ).

I’ve been thinking of returning to a no-holds-barred, spare-no-expense, leave-no-stone-untirned competitive mode, would you support me as well??

No.
Andy, any chance you can elaborate on this experience and tell us what happended, what changes were made, etc…
I’m working on a pic-laden blog entry, but 1) it will take a while to write up, and 2) won’t tell you anything that you don’t already know (or should know).
