good luck working nights Jodi,
i have been working nights since 2004, balloned to 175 lbs my first 2 years and now im down to 145lbs. like what most have said, you need to stick with your schedule day in day out. my shft starts at 9pm-6am(DST) if normal time 8-5am, i train before and after work, runs are done best before work because i always feel a bit heavy after work or in the am, i just do office work so chances are im just a bit stiff from sitting down too much, do plan on running during my lunch break, i have completely reversed my body clock so if anybody calls me lets say at 2pm, ill be a bit cranky and tell them, how would yu feel if i call you at 2 in the morning!! LOL..swim workouts ok either times for me but of course i need to wake up at 3pm which is 3am for me..talk about early morning swims...eating for me is normal but i do follow KP with regard to early dinner time at around 3-4am then just take in milk or any cereal beverage before bed and im good. the snacks in the office is the killer really for me but do get by now with some pcs of chips or chocolates.
A little late, but for your next series of night shifts, I recommend getting a sleeping aid, like Ambien or some other prescription med.
