We did alcatraz yesterday and reached landfall about 100 yards early. For those more familiar with the event I was wondering what their take on the current was.

I had the same problem! The current was obviously very strong, or else the times would not have been so fast. I’m not sure how, but I definitely missed the lane. All the pre-race talk of sighting to the left has landed me up the beach on two occasions. Next time I’ll try to stay with the masses…

Same thing with me. When I saw everyone running on the beach I just assumed it was the swim exit and got out. I was suprised at how far I had to run to get to the actual exit.

Ditto. I think it may have been something to do with the fact that I am a faster swimmer. If you are in the water for a shorter period of time then there is less drift. I was short and had to make my way through the rocks.

Yes, that’s true. Pro Bryan Rhodes got bumped shortly after the jump. He’s not sure what happened, but it threw him off some. He’s still pretty sore today, but was maybe going swimming in the bay this morning.
