Pumpkinman?

Im going to IMCOZ late november and im looking for a HIM in october.
I live in Quebec so theres no more tri after the 3th week of september. I find Pumpkinman in Vegas and sound interesting(with cool nightclub saturday night) and the fly/stay(if you stay away from casinos!) costs are not too high. BTW, I cant find any bike course elevation profile for this race…

What do you think? Other tri options?

Thanks

The pumpkinman HIM race in south berwick, maine is Sept. 13 and is a wee bit closer to Quebec. Not as late as the Vegas race but could be a fair bit cheaper.

Overall atmosphere would be considered the polar opposite of Vegas with this being a rural setting and a turkey dinner feed after the race.

I already race the 12th in Montreal(HIM)…
Not ready for 2 HIM in 2 days!!!

The vegas race is a great venu, but the bike course is challenging to say the least. This course is similar to the silverman course. I went to mapmyride.com and I think that I came up with something like 4500’ of gain on the bike. I can’t remember exactly. Lots and lots of rollers. Need to train the 1min power for this one. The run course is much flatter than silverman though. I wouldn’t put this down as a PR course, but more of a challenging workout leading into your IM. Overall I hope that I can make it out there for this race, but school will dictate that. Hope that helps a bit.

Pumpkinman (Vegas) is a pretty good race. Did the HIM last year, first year they added a half due to it being Half max Nationals, as a lead up to IMAZ.

Bike course is challenging. Almost the same as Silverman except for the last 15 or so miles. Nice looong climb from Lake Mead to Boulder City to end the bike. Run is flat"ish". There are long sections of about 2% grade both on the out and the back, it’s deceptively tough

Since they changed motionbased I can’t find my profile, but did fid this page, shows 6500 feet of elevation, no idea if that’s accurate or not…

Duke Half in Raleigh, NC is a great race. Well organized and has been held for many years without very many changes in courses or layout. Last weekend in September. Run by Set Up Events ( who run probably 80% of the multisport events in the Carolinas, Georgia and Virginia).
