Pump adapter for disc wheel

I just ordered a Renn disc, and I’m looking for a pump adapter to be able to inflate the tire. I’ve seen the previous threads that recommend the Silca “crack pipe” adapter. By the looks of it, I would have to cut the existing head off of my Joe Blow Pro to use this adapter. Is this the case? Is there another similar adapter out there that works with an existing pump head so I don’t have to remove the existing head?

Thanks in advance.

The crack pipe will fit in the presta part of your pump so you don’t have to cut anything. They are still a pain though.

Bend out the valve. I am a recovering crack pipe user, and bending out the valve is so much simpler.

Bend out the valve. That’s what I do with my Joe Blow and don’t worry about fatigue failure because you’ll only bend it when you race, anyway.

1 - take crack pipe adapter

2- hose-clamp to short piece of hose

3 - cut off stem from old tube, open valve, hose-clamp cut-off end to other end of hose

4 - this will now be useful for any pump you have or need to use at race start.

When you guys say ‘bend out the valve’ do you mean permanently put a bend in it, or just pull it so that it comes off to the side a little bit and then goes back to it’s original position when you let go of it? If you permanently bend it doesn’t this mess with the valve? Do you also pre-bend the spare tube or tubular that you carry in advance, or is this not necessary since it looks like a CO2 adapter will fit in there no problem? Sorry for the disc-newbie questions. I’m stressing out about my first IM coming up in a few weeks, and my brain isn’t working at top speed.

Pull it out to the side so the pump head fits over it. Even Frank recommends this method.
