I bought 2 pairs of them in japan. I haven’t weighed them yet, but they are lighter than crocks. Not sure if i would run in them yet.

I just got a pair at the outlet for $35. Seem very runnable. Will report back after my first run in them, probably on Wednesday. My Lunar Mariahs are also in the mail…

I’ve got a pair. I’ve done a few runs in them. They are very… “plastic”-y. The upper is quite stiff. They definitely gave me some serious blisters, even with socks and I’m usually someone who is near-immune to blisters. Usually it’s going sockless that does it. In fact, these are the first shoes to ever give me blisters while I was wearing socks. And that’s in nearly 30 years of running.

Very light though. The feel wasn’t bad. They’re not super-cushioned like, say, the Nike LunaRacers but they have decent cushioning for such a light shoe.

In some respects, these seem like almost a bit of a “toy” shoe. Still, the very fact that they have no “features” like motion control might make them a decent shoe to practice minimalism, if that’s what you are looking to try. I intend to give them a few more shots. As racing flats, go, there are definitely better choices but they aren’t bad.

For me, they are really tight at the beginning of the toe box. I have 2 different sizes and the bigger ones are actually tighter than the smaller. ymmv. =]

I wear them to work. the sole is not very flexible and does feel “plastic-y”

ugly colors!

I really wanted them to be running shoes but once I tried them, I couldn’t see it happen.

I wore them just walking to the pool today. Definitely not running shoes. Nice for walking around though…

Isn’t purchasing Puma’s for running almost as solid a predictor of a stress fracture as horrific leg pain.

“My Lunar Mariahs are also in the mail…”

Where can I buy Nike Lunar Mariahs?

What a shame! They look like they have pretty low heels and semi-minimal.

What are (were?) those Puma flats you were running in at Fistapalooza?

Ah, my favorite training shoes - the Complete Roadracer III: available in red/white and yellow/gray – http://www.runningwarehouse.com/catpage-MRAC.html?SHOW=NOBRAND&ctype=comp

You win IMC and you still need to buy shoes??

My dad was a 2:20-2:30 marathoner back in the late 70’s when there were a lot more folks running these times and he got sent buttloads of product from NB, Tiger, Adidas and more…

Hey a-hole shoe companies - wake up and give a little, m’kay?!

You can afford the 3 dollars that it cost you to hire a 9 year old philipino boy to make that pair of shoes.

2:20-2:30 isn’t even interesting today with less people running these times.

What’s in there for the shoe company? Sure, it only costs them a few bucks to send shoes but maybe they do not want to be associated with 2nd tier “triatholon” pros (no offense!)?

My running club had a Nike sponsorship. Personally, I think this was one of their best cost/benefit deals. As one of the major/fast running clubs in NYC, other runners and teams model us. However, Nike dropped us as they ended all second (third) tier club sponsorship in the US.

That said, I agree with you that Nike could benefit from giving Jordan free shoes. But more likely they just don’t care. Heck, if he writes a whiney email to Nike, I’m sure they will send him a couple pair of shoes just to quieten him down.

No offense taken. Running shoes are one the very few things I pay for. I feel very lucky about that. I don’t mind. It’s not that much money, and I am happy to have some choice. The Nike rep out of Vancouver is nice enough to help me out with shoes from time to time. And Simon does as well (we wear the same size). So it’s not a burden. I like having choice. If Nike wanted to offer me a formal contract, I’d definitely take it. Same with Puma and probably a couple others. Other than that, I don’t know. Those are the shoes I buy, so I know I like them. I’d rather have the best shoes and pay for them than get paid to wear shoes I don’t like as much. Your shoes need to work.

Maybe he is getting them free. I asked about me buying the Nike Mariah Lunars and later found out that they won’t be available to the general population until April of 2010, at least that’s what I think is the case.

So if he’s got some on the way maybe Nike did do the right thing and send him some for free. I ran in the regular Nike Mariahs back in the day and really liked them. I’m wondering what a Mariah/Lunar racing flat would be like.

The Lunar Mariah’s have been available at Nike Mercer 21 NYC since early summer.
They’re Racers with Free everyday upper (or similar).

what size are you, I have some old mariahs still in the origional boxes, those things must be like 20 years old but crazy people on letsrun.com still use them.

size 10. I’ll buy them from you if they are my size.

all of mine are 11.5 and 12s
