Puerto, Doping and Ze French

So, I was talking to some friends of mine in France, trying to cut through the media crap etc…and hear what was the common view about this year’s Tour…
The most common view is that there are people out there that want to bring the Tour down, and cycling in general, and that all these things coming out are done for only one reason, to cover up for the other sports that are involved in Operacion Puerto, in which really big names from Football, Tennis, F1, motorbike racing, have come out.

I find this hard to believe…

That this is the common view or that there is a major cover-up?

No, no, no…

The part about you having friends.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I pay them well enough
.

Do any of them think it’s ASO trying discredit the UCI in some sort of power struggle? Or ASO trying to save face this year by leaking results early in an attempt to avoid another Landis situation?

How is blood doping going to help a Formula 1 driver?

Actually, I was wondering this…Thing is, ASO doesn’t have much to do to discredit the UCI who’s been doing a good job at discrediting itself.
ASO wants to give the whole doping control thing to WADA directly (yeah I know…they aren’t doing a great job either) and not deal with the UCI.

Now, many (in France) believe that there is a LOT of crap in Football, Tennis etc…and it was amazing how the names that came out initially were erased…there is a lot of money involved in these sports. They can grease a lot of people, specially when talking about football players that are transferred for 150,000,000 euros, or F1 drivers…With the current affairs in these sports (rigged matches and championship, the EPO story of the Juventus), Spying games in F1, it looks like cheating is pretty well rooted there too.

Just a wild guess here…They race for 2hrs or thereabout, when going in the curves, the acceleration is quite extreme and breathing becomes difficult (that’s not a guess), therefore, it’s quite possible that blood doping helps the drivers tolerate this…besides, blood doping is one thing, but not the only one.

And that surprises anyone? Very interesting how no other sports ever come up in relation to doping.

Francois, That would echo the same things I hear from my own french and spanish friends. Most of them are no more than casual sports fans but they seem to be tired of the plethora of cycling scandal at the expense of the other sports. There is more $ in a single F1 race than all of cycling for an entire year. One would have to be fairly dense to believe they aren’t looking for every single advantage.

is there a list of all the name that we can see???

it s pretty obvious that in north america, Hockey, football, baseball and basketball have way more money that cycling, it s not even in the same league… so if there is so much drugs in cycling, it s very easy to imagine what your north american sport are now,… players make millions in contract and millions in endorsement and there is no well establish testing systeme… but i dont think US and Canada is ready/or want to find out the truth about there heros…

what i find sad is the our professional sport have plenty of money to test athlete every freaking day but they wont do it as the players association dont want it…they sure know they cant start be tested or it s the end…

as for triathlon, as long as winning a ironman will only give you 12 000$, we should be ok for awile but need to take some action anyway…

I’ll bet that one goes BOTH ways. There’s definitely a power struggle going on over who controls the “crown jewels” of professional cycling. Do you ever notice how quick each side is to blame the other for the mess??

Just follow the money…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If all sports tested for as many things and as often as cycling we wouldn’t even be talking about doping in cycling.

Pretty much any ‘official’ document that was available, related to OP are not online. I remember seeing a few sites with names: among others top football players from spanish clubs, top tennis players, F1 drivers, etc.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Also, on a somewhat tangential note, Nascar is the life blood of rednecks. Now, think of your typical redneck. I find it amazing that there pretty much aren’t any overweight Nascar drivers out there.

Compared to the typical redneck, a NASCAR driver is not overweight, but compared to the typical athlete, there are some heavy duty NASCAR drivers. Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Jimmy Spencer and Jeff Green. Of course, NASCAR drivers can’t get too fat. Who wants an overweight person to be the spokesman/driver for a $20million+ advertising campaign?

I could also see race drivers using PED’s to stay at the top of their game in the extreme heat (105+ degrees) of a racecar. I did the Richard Petty driving school in July and lost at least 8lbs of water weight (this was before I was a runner/triathlete).

Common views are usually retarded, because most people have IQs of 100 or lower
.

maybe in the US

Whut doo yoo mean, pardner ?
