PTO financials

I don’t think people “pay” to watch these things in Europe per se. But it’s on TNT and EuroSport which are subscription services owned by WBD. I don’t see these going to discovery+ because that would make you think it’s worth being behind a pay wall.

You might be willing to pay $30, but are there any a la carte options on Discovery+. Remember this is the same company that built its own distribution platform in PTO+ and then abandoned it. That’s a few millions pissed away.

Is that why WBD would go in as a partner? And yes if have to pay for a cable package just to watch T100, I ain’t going to do it. If I was a bigger cycling fan, I think I would pay the what $50 to get the cycling package, but I’ve kinda gotten used to watching text updates through cyclingnews. So would I pay $40 for both ITU + $40 for T100, probaly. I wouldn’t get cable package even a la carte though at this point. (I don’t want to pay $100 a month of sorta useless channels). I love itu live just so I can watch back anytime I want. I don’t care enough for IM to do that if I don’t watch live. Probaly same for T100 (I only watched half Van race), even though I think it’s free playbacks at any time (currently for US “free subscribers”)

Next March.

Mannn, that’s gonna be rough when they postpone that one.

Fair and understandable sarcasm, but this event is organized by Events Management Queensland (EMQ) on the PTO’s behalf. And EMQ is owned by the government of Queensland.

Basically the PTO does well when someone competent does the legwork for them.

They are really great when others do everything for them. Including earning them money to spend.

So basically it’s like needing your mom to co-sign for your car loan. The creditor laughed in your face until your mum walks in with perfect credit to bail you out lol

Sarcasm aside I really do hope they deliver 100% of any race schedule they post for next year. I hope they announce it this year and nail it with no changes. They are very good for the sport and for short course athletes stepping up. They have basically next year then they start to lose short course star power to the Olympic cycle so they gotta get a year right.

Any ideas yet about the Wollongong course?

One would assume it is not dissimilar from the short course venue.

Sure but interested in how they extend the Olympic distance bike loop. Seems hard to involve much more climbing without too much disruption of traffic.

do they actually have expand it ? I liked the course from the World Cup cant remember how many loops it was .

Not clear what Wollongong has to do with PTO Financials or a T100 race (in Queensland)?
Wrong thread?

It isn’t like you to be out of the loop.Wollongong is the replacement venue for the cancelled T100 Vegas this coming October.

Monday morning caffeine free moment - apologies!
I expect World Tri / PTO will just do twice the number of laps at Wollongong (to get from 40km to 80km). Given permission driven short notice.

I would assume road closure costs are part of financials lol

That was fast. Meanwhile, Frejus is still standing at the 360 EUR initially launched.

I can’t remember is lap out a rule in t100 or only itu? Has t100 used a bike course as small as Wtcs level courses that are generally under 10 mins (~5k)?

Lapping out
World Tri rules only refer to draft legal
5.4 Overlapping:
a.) In the draft legal races for Elite, U23, Junior, Youth and Mixed Relay, athletes who have been lapped during the bike segment will be withdrawn from the competition by the Technical Officials.
Agree an issue worth taking into account for the PTO. But I guess even Long would not be lapped out on a 5km loop (recall if you wish the experience of Miami/Homestead for a <5km lap).

I think micheal Weiss was lapped on the bike in a t100 and not taken out.

and to be honest it makes no sense taking out atheltes in a 20 starter field non drafting.

long was within 20 seconds in Miami last year

Wasn’t implying they should have lap out, just wanted to make sure if they use a WTCS course profile that is *generally shorter than the normal T100 laps, that you can’t be “lapped out” (only itu from above; thanks @Ajax_Bay )

I’m also not really a fan of crit-ish style courses for non-draft type of racing, but I assume this is sorta last minute change so they probaly aren’t getting a better course than what is already designed for this championship venue with the locals.
