PT PRO+ Axle replacement

Has anyone replaced the axle on the Pro+? I am #160 with 260 watt 1hr power. I would call these numbers light and weak. The problem is that i can feel the flex especially when standing or climbing. I was contemplating replacing the Pro+ axle (alloy) with the Elite+ axle (steel). Has anyone done this? Does it help with the flex? Thanks

I changed my cuz of a bad bearing cone. I used the steel axle.

I never noticed any axle flex but I’m 15 lbs lighter than you and FTP of 220.

I don’t know the details, but my husband and I have different axels in our PowerTaps and it was something Wheelbuilder.com helped us with. If you give them a call I’m sure they could let you know.

I’m 200lb and have been in discussions with Wheelbuilder the last few days about buying a Pro+ hub. They actually suggested I go with an Elite+ hub to get the steel axle and save the bearings from wearing out prematurely.

I have. The Alloy axle is way soft and has a ton of flex. I’m 165 lbs and for some reason the wheel flex and side to side movement was real obvious. I got it changed to the steel axle - much stiffer and a better ride. Yes, heavier but worth the change. Rich at Wheelbuilder will tell you the same.
