I would never name names, or name-call, or make accusations–
But 2nd and 3rd in the elite amateur wave are wheel-sucking, cheating bitches ;^) (well, I didn’t name names)
Props to Chris Ganter for holding them off. They sat on Chris? from Ill, then they sat on me, then they sat on Chris. I waved a motorcycle up to complain, got a ‘we’re watching them, don’t worry’ response, and actually got sad when I saw no penalty on the results…not mad, just sad. Oh well. And I didn’t even beat slowtwitcher ‘bigd’ so now I owe him lunch.
Elite AG wave. My buddy Chip Berry was 2nd out of the water behind Adam Webber. He said a huge train passed them at one point. That kind of crap pisses me off. If they are going to advertise this awesome Elite AG competition, then it would be great if they actually marshall it. Nice race though. I just hope Chicago is not like that in August…
I don’t really know what to say, I was so upset after the race but was sure they’d get penalties. The draft marshall just sat there, since I was asking for something to be done. They were about 50m ahead, I was just shaking my head. So I past as hard as I could and told the kid from Ill that these 2 were just sitting on him, but it wasn’t good enough. Those 2 came around him, then he’d try, and they’d sit on and go around me. Chris Ganter came on and rode right through, and they did the same thing. It was just sad.
A 3rd guy was with these 2 until he was dropped before the out-and-back. I don’t want to say anymore, but lets just say I was shocked to see him sitting on.
A friend of mine said something after the race that really hit home. Very cynical, but something like ‘if they draft and the marshals don’t care, they’re not the assholes-the guys riding clean are.’

well chicago was not like that last year, but the elite ag waves are much bigger this year (I couldn’t get in…at all!)

the most annoying part, i’d think, is knowing that the marshall saw everything.
it’s not like they were even sneaky.
maybe they knew something.
I dropped back pretty far, and there was a marshall there, so maybe i’m wrong, but I doubt it.
These 2 never went to the front. With all the passing I did, and Chris, and Chris G—these 2 were always on a wheel. The old guy sat on me, since i’m a bit bigger I suspect.
Oh well. Hopefully it’s not like this at Timberman. These short races are too hard anyway, these guys are too fast for me.
