Psyche Up The Ralph's Players

I’m sitting here at my desk with that bit of tightness in the tummy with the Ralph’s cannon less than 48 hours away. Driving down from Nor Cal 2nite and can’t wait to put the early season training plan through the paces. Anybody else as psyched? How is the weather, you SD-Oceanside players? Let’s get it on.

weather is perfect the last few days but there is a chance for rain saturday…

damnit I just got the butterflys was able to keep them away all week!

water temps are real nice right now, but it does look like we’re up for some weather. Rain, probably, but wind for sure. With the wind forecast, looks like the water will roll and drop in temp a couple of degrees, so maybe bring an extra swim cap or squid lid. Have fun, I’m looking forward to it as well - e

I am driving down from Nor Cal in a couple of hours. I was able to keep the butterflys at bay until this morning. Packing up everything did it to me. I just hope the weather isn’t horrible.

TOTALLY PSYCHED!! Not racing, but I get to see a bunch of my friends and hang with KERRI all day Saturday. It will be a great weekend, then next week, it’s back to structured training.

I entered the race many months ago, only to end up with a conflict with a big family trip this weekend. So, I bailed. Stopped swimming. Took a little training break to get ready to launch into Idaho preps in about 3 weeks.

Then I found out this morning that we won’t be leaving for the trip until Saturday afternoon.

I’m back on for Ralphs!

This should be interesting. I have been to the pool about 8 times since October 31. I am 8 pounds above race weight. I have not done the sort of bike and run training that I would have liked for a half IM. Fortunately, I got this news in time to cancel my planned long run for today and instead run around town getting spare tubes and some gels and whatnot.

It’s gonna be a good one!

You know how they say “break a leg” for “good luck” in theatre-speak? I think, “bust a gut” would be triathlon-speak for good luck. So, to all you Ralphers I say, BUST A GUT! Wish I were there with y’all!

Not nervous, b/c the training has been done. Well I probably could have swam a bit more but too late now. I am a bit nervous b/c I have not raced a tri in about 8 yrs. Have raced du’s two of the last three yrs but threading your way through runners is a bit easier than swimming through others. When I stopped tri’s I was racing elite, and never had more than about 50 in a swim start. Hmmm maybe I am a bit nervous. Oh well, I am looking forward to the Sat party at our rental. We are the house closest to the transition. Party starts at 2pm.
