Weird, it does say April 30th and shipping via Amazon according to the Amazon listing, and I did hear that it was coming out shortly but it is weird that we haven’t seen a review from DcRainmaker under his Garmin section. I mean at a price point of $600 it just seems to be getting absurdly priced anyway. I think they should bring back the 920 at $150 or less. I don’t use all the bells and whistles.
Agree sort of. Music is a potential game changer at least for me. I wish they could develop a middle of the road multi sport watch with music. I’d be fine with paying ~$400 for something like that.
My hunch is that the post is a mistake. It is not searchable on Amazon’s search box. In the past week, CT and Swimoutlet have both leaked posts and pulled them. It is not out yet officially on Clever Training yet, so my guess is that Garmin announces on Monday and DCR and CT publish their stuff.

Yes that could be compelling for those that use Bluetooth. I tried again last year to see where Bluetooth was at, but too many pairing problems, dropped connections, poor battery life, poor sound quality. If you manage your music and have some diggity sport plug-in vertical headphones the experience is a lot better. Seeing people run with iPhone always give me a chuckle, it is like we regressed 25 years to running with tape player in term of size. I still remember watching devices getting smaller and smaller. The number one reason to upgrade was building less imbalances from those honky devices. But so many people are locked into streaming services now that is really their only option.
Yes I’ve written extensively about the crappy music on the 645…but if they can improve it, I would move to try

On the Amazon search? Wild. Mine did not work… anyway, I am waiting a couple days to see what hits on CleverTraining. I saved 10% on my 530 by clicking through to CT from the DCR website link. That, and I have a butt-ton of CT VIP points to cash out on the 945.
After three excellent and very reliable years of use, I think that the battery in my venerable 735XT is fading.

It’s be cool if they did drop a mid tier tri watch. Music would be cool for training. But maybe skip Garmin Pay and some of the other metrics and fancy barometer, etc to save on costs.
Could have a less premium feel too and still be a winner.

I went to REI today and asked the manager about pre-ordering the 945. He didn’t know anything about it. He first checked their website and of course couldn’t find anything. Then he checked their internal inventory system and again, there was nothing there. He was quite surprised, especially after telling him about Amazon’s pre-order and all the other sites with leaks (Clever Training, SwimOutlet, Wiggle, etc).

The fact remains that the best sports mp3 player is still the iPod shuffle 4th gen which is almost 14 years old at this point. To me this is an amazing testament to the ability of the mid-2000s Apple’s product development team to churn out un-fuck-withable products.

We’ll know more shortly, but from the 10 with music, I’d expect close to the 935 when just using GPS and external heart rate - about 20 hrs give or take.

You have had a bad experience with the music. Guess what? Mine works perfectly. And I’d bet almost all do - will there be some outliers? No doubt. But if it wasn’t working universally we’d hear about it from other than just you.
