You do realize, of course, this ‘concern’ of yours is largely a function of the design of this website, the number of daily posters/viewers, and having only a single board to post even remotely related topics?
This may not be apparent to someone who visits here 5x/day, but topics are posted and disappear from the front page (or two or three) over the course of time.
The repeated postings you are taking umbrage at probably originate from well intentioned members that have a busy or interesting life outside of this website and can’t either visit often enough or take the time to read through all the back posts to identify duplicates on material they want to share with their friends.
Likewise, even on a fourth or fifth posting of the same ‘interesting’ material, there will be those who are seeing it for the first time on the front page - even if you personally have seen five postings by then.
If this is a true concern, there are many technical fixes that could be implemented:
enable voting on posts to allow unique material to ‘float’ to the top of listingssearch links for duplicate URL’s as part of posting proceduremoderation to link similar postings in separate threadsdivision of the main board into topic segments that allow an easier visual scan of existing postings in that topic area…to name but a few.
Speaking of repeated posts, who is this Lance guy everyone is talking about?
