On beginner triathlete, people would be showing their outrage at the OP/people involved for awhile before someone pointed out that it was an old ghost thread.

This may not have been the rule back in 2003 but for the past several years pros have been prohibited from racing AG in IM events. Hence the issue.
PROFESSIONAL STATUS:
Any athlete holding elite/ professional status or an Ironman Professional Membership (as verified by elite/ pro status of an athlete’s National Triathlon Federation) is prohibited from racing as an AGE GROUP athlete in ANY sanctioned triathlon events anywhere in the world, where there is an elite/ pro wave, within the same calendar year. Disqualification and potential sanction from WTC events, and forfeiture of any AGE GROUP World Championship qualifying slots may result for any athlete that has not adhered to this policy.

Didn’t a male winner grab an ice cream cone on A’lii Dr. one year? Technically, that is outside assistance & though he won, should have been DQ’d. Winner or not. Thought that was televised (it was about two blocks from the finish).

Since it was dairy, it’s probably not considered assistance. I couldn’t run 200 m after eating ice cream! (though I certainly consume plenty after I run.)
