Pros at Vineman?

Has anyone seen a pro start list for Vineman? They have had some big names in the past but, since I haven’t seen them hyping it this year, I’m guessing their pro field is a little thin this year?

last I heard the pro field was canceled for the half vineman. I think they focus on the age group race and don’t pay appearance money for Pros. As of a couple of weeks ago with basically only a few pro’s signed up they decided to cancel the pro wave (all pro’s who were signed up were offered a refund). They still have a few pro’s racing starting in the first wave (men under 27). The kicker is, they only get prize money if they beat all of the age groupers- which I think is pretty funny.

They still have the $2k purse offered up for the full vineman, split between all men under 9:30 and all women under 10:30. The front end of that race should be pretty fast.

I believe that not a single male went under 9:30 and women went under 10:30 at last year’s race. The prize money just might go unclaimed.

I emailed them to ask the same question because it is scheduled on fantasy triathlon and they told me there is not a pro division.

I know they have some fairly fast males signed up this year, in part beacuse of the $$ offer. I don’t know if we’ll see any 8:30s, but sub 9:30 for sure. One of our locals is gunning for some money so he can afford to eat this fall. Never underestimate the power of a hungy Bob.
