Tough for them to be in the unpopular position of having to make tough calls. But you have to admit, the officials have stepped up to the plate this year. I say, “Good for them”.
They are only going to be unpopular with the people they dinged, and presumably there are far more people out there thanking the officials for a fair race than are cursing them. It seems that the officials had kept their red pens capped for too long…funny what happens when they enforce the rules.
Yup. There is a reason why they it is non-drafting.
Something like that…though I admit that it must have been something of a “perfect storm” for the peleton: strict enforcement and windy conditions. One without the other would have at least made for a closer race for first. Props to Peter Reid for showing that he can ride legal enough and still run himself into the race. And to Stadler for taking the race. And to the guys who couldn’t catch or hang with Stadler but refused to drop back to the “pack.”
