Proper Tri Setup on bike - HELP!

Hey guys. Last year I did a duathlon and got hooked. I went out and bought a new bike, new swimming and running gear, and have been focusing more on training than school. I’ve been messing around with my seat position for about a week and it feels pretty good where it is. Before I lock it down, are there any recommendations/tips/etc as far as my position goes, etc.

Just FYI, I might have to mess with the tilt of the seat a bit, but I feel pretty good besides that. Also the video is a bit messy at first, but clears up in a few seconds.

Thanks all for taking the time to help out. I appreciate it.

On The Trainer

your seat may be a “touch” too high and you might be able to get away with a shorter stem - other than that - nice looking bike - congrats man and welcome into the “Club”
.

Shorter stem…What length is on there now?

Lower the front end a bit…how many mm’s of spacers do you have?

Seat looks good to me…dont change that until you change the others.

I would 2nd the lower front end and shorter stem
.

I have a 110 stem and no spacers on it, and it’s at 84 deg…any ideas for good stems/other ways to lower it more?

Whats the spacer measurement>

You could probaly go with a 100 or 90 stem.

I have the ten needed, so I guess I could so smaller? Any idea for angle as far as the stem goes?

stem should be flat. at least thats the way i like it.

Tdrop your stem 1/4 inch…move the spacers from under the stem to on top of it…

I don’t have any spacers on it…just the sloping piece that is on it (like here) the thing that days IS-8 (whatever it’s called). So I need a short (90?) stem that makes it parallel to the ground?

no, the 90 or 100 stem will bring your elbows back…
it you dont have any spacers, then get a 0 degree stem.

So since it’s a 73 deg head tube angle, I’ll need a 17 deg stem to make it zero?

take a look at this stem…

I can vouch for the Dimension adjustable stem. I got the 110mm one, jammed it all the way down, and my handlebars currently sit below the level of the top tube, haha. Not terribly stiff (to be expected from an adjustable stem), but it works. @OP: You’ll probably want the 110mm one, as when you jam it down it decreases the effective length significantly–mine gives me an effective stem length of about 80 or 90mm.

Agree with dropping the front end down a little, if your back doesn’t become like Quasimodo when you do. But I’d also suggest that you try shorteneing up the aero extensions rather than going with a shorter stem (as long as you can do so without having to hack off pieces).
