Proper Base bar fit?

There is a bunch of info available on determining the correct sizing/fit for the tri position on the aerobars.

One subject that seems largely overlooked though, is the correct fitting for base bars.

I understand that in theory, one should spend almost all of your time in the aero position. In practice though I’ll be doing my training either in traffic where I spend time defensively on the brakes, or climbing over a mountain to reach flat, lightly trafficked roads on the other side. Either way, I’m going to spend a ton of time on my base bar and want to get something that fits well.

Width is the easy measurement; I know I need a 40.

But what about length, height, and manufacturer?

Any suggestions for how to find the right base bar?

Note - I have a 3.5" (8.9cm) drop from my saddle to my aerobar pads. The aerobars are Syntace C2 in the small size, cut even a bit shorter than that. And, the basebars that came on the bike (profile?) are nearly as long as the aerobars, which seems wrong.

One last try. Anyone have any advice here at all? If not, I’ll just pick up some cheap syntace bars on ebay.

Hello,

Interesting question. I was wondering the same.

The only things that I have found so far are:
