Seems like they are the oldest company, but how is their triathlon wetsuits? They seem cheaper and have more features than others (well, key pocket and zipped legs didn’t impressed me) but the life time warranty seems impressing. I never owned a wetsuit so don’t know how often the seams open in wetsuits?

I don’t have one but I’ve seen a lot of them at my races. They look like a good quality suit at a good price. Everyone I’ve spoken to liked theirs. I just have a problem buying a suit that I’ve never tried on. I think that they have a good return policy if you get one that doesn’t fit.
I spoke with them on the phone about 2 years ago and they seemed very pleasant and helpful.

I own one, love it. Very helpful on the phone, I was in between sizes and they helped me make the right choice, then I “thumbnailed” the suit first race I wore it. They gave detailed over the phone instructions for this minor repair. Great suit, great prices, even retailors who sell suits have said nice things about mine. The prices are low because they sell direct only.
I own one as well and really like it. It might not have as much flashy design as some of the more expensive suits, but for me it works just as well. I was also unsure about what model to purchase and they helped me out over the phone (and didn’t talk me into the most expensive one).
Someone on trinewbies.com used to put together a list every month. If you send him your name you’ll get a discount (20% I think, maybe 10%). Go over there and run a search if you’re interested.
Have a sleeveless with trisleeves (like a jacket you can wear under a sleeveless to give you sleeves) I bought last year. It’s served me very well.
Great customer service on the phone, they’ll work to fit you right. I believe mine fits me fairly perfectly, and I’m a bit of a weird size. The price is right, and even better with the TNO discount.
It’s no-frills, but all I really need. I’ve also thumbnailed it a few times (I’m not very delicate with it), and it’s easy to fix with a neoprene repair kit.
great wetsuits, I bought one 2 years ago. Love it.
I was really impressed with this suit. Great bang for the buck in my opinion. I bought one last year after I dislocated my shoulder. I wasn’t able to take off my Desoto until everything healed up. So I bought a ProMotion as a temporary suit. Mine didn’t fit me as well as I’d like, but I think I just got the wrong size.
If you’re a guy taller than 6’2" and have pretty big shoulders, my suit may work for you. PM me if interested. It’s been used 2 times.
Also, if you search the forum, you’ll find a handful of threads about ProMotion.
i love mine. if you are an atypical triathlete, i.e. can’t afford the “latest” two piece bib john wetsuit, this is for you. the sleeveless if great for ultra fast transitions
you…big shoulders…good one.
I have a ProMotion suit and have been using it for two years. I’ve had zero problems except one…I lost weight. The suit fit perfect when I first got it and now it’s not as tight as I would like. But I guess this really isn’t a problem. I really enjoy swimming in it and it feels fast to me.
“you…big shoulders…good one”
You’ll notice I said that it doesn’t fit.
Their US-made suits were really top-notch and I have owned 2 of them–one from 1992! It is too bad they don’t go back to that, as I really liked those.
But a few years ago, they started importing from Thailand and, in my view, their tri wetsuit design suffered a lot. I looked at their suits in person recently, but decided against them for that reason.
I thought they were Made in USA? So new ones are import?
All the ones I saw (a short sleeved black, several long sleeved w/ green shoulders) were made in Thailand. They told me they shifted their production overseas for the tri suits at least, but call and ask them yourself and see what they say… (let me know)
I have had mine for a year and a half, got a super deal as they were moving in the new stock. Tried on alot of different suits and could not justify spending $200 more on another suit. They are very helpful over the phone, they put me a size other than I would have picked and it turned out perfect. THey will suggest buying two and sending the other back if you are in between sizes. Do not underestimate the benefit of the leg zipper after you have swam a mile.
Unless they have changed their suit you will want to cover the neck velcro when not in use or it will eat up the stitching un to shoulder seam. The stitching is mostly there for looks, but you know how particular some of us are.
Gotcha! didn’t think of it that way…glad you aren’t trying to sell used c… never mind.
have one myself (I think a Made in the US one, it’s all black) and have been really happy with it (great bang for the buck).
ProMotion was a major player in the windsurfing world years ago. I recall visiting their shop in Hood River probably 15 years ago when I used to frequent the Gorge. They made good stuff and all in USA. Somebody there must have seen the growth curve in tri and they moved in that direction.
Given their history they should certainly know how to make a solid wetsuit…certainly more experience than most manufacturers out there.
I have a full one, bought 2nd hand in 2001, and it’s been fine. I like the medium-tall sizing, most other wetsuits are either loose or too short (yes, my next wetsuit will be a T1). The flexibility is great, I don’t feel any constriction on my stroke. I’ve inadvertently cut it a few times, but patching with neoprene cement has worked. Time trials in the pool show I’m about 30s per 500yd faster in this suit, YMMV.
