I need to get a little forward on my Kestrel 500sci. Which post is best for that? Thomson has the brand name and reputation. Profile appears to get you more forward? Any experience with either or both? I am currently using a Corima carbon, but it has a lot of lateral flex and I wonder if I might snap the thing if I’m in high-wattage mode but still in the saddle… anyone every heard of that? Is there a forward post out there that I’m missing?
well there are lots of companies selling the Profile posts under different names so yeah you’re missing some but not really.
I’ve used both, the Profile will get a road bike up to 80 degrees where the Thomson will only bump you few degrees up so depends what you need.
The profile is a BRICK and the clamp is a pain to set up, well a pain relative to the Thomson at least. But, it’s cheap, check out www.chucksbikes.com for Tsunami branded Profile post.
The Thomson is light and if you want to go lighter you can get a Thomson Masterpiece setback that’s under 150g but pricey. The clamp is much easier to set up but again you can’t get all that foward.
