Are there and tips for installing these on aero bars with exposed cables? They appear to be a tight fit over just the aero bars themselves let alone bars plus cables.
Thx

At first, I likened them to putting on a condom when you’re drunk. That shit isn’t gonna happen!
Then, I dunked them in a bowl of soapy water (really soapy) and then was able to get them on that way. I highly recommend securing the end of the exposed cable with some sort of pliers, lest you inadvertently poke a hole in the rubber grip.
Also, because you have to do some sort of twisting motion to get the grip down the extension, I suggest using a shop towel to grip it.
Go to walmart and buy a travel bottle of hairspray and shoot the inside of the grip with it and then it will slide right on and will dry really quickly and even be a little tacky so they should stay in place.
I like it better than soapy water that seems to never dry very well.
Really appreciate it. Thanks
Jeez I never would have thought to try hair spray. I’ll give it a shot. Appreciate it. Thanks.
WD-40!! spray it everywhere prior and be quick before it evaporates. It actually will condition the rubber to be very tacky/sticky when it dries.
old BMX trick
Hairspray is what I used with mine. has to be tight to work. Love them.

How long are the Aero Grips?
4 3/4". I picked up a few pair and ended up with an extra set that’s all black. If you’re interested I’ll sell them to you for $15 which is what I paid and I’ll ship them for free.
Thanks.
When installed, are the grips thicker/thinner/about the same as regular bar tape (something like the standard Fizik Microtex, for example)?
Do they come packaged as two or four grips? (Would I need two sets to do both the extensions & base bar?)
They’re 1/8" thick. I removed Fizik Microtex for these actually. I’d say the Aero Grips are just slightly thicker. Fizik felt like a thickness of about 1/16". They come in a set of 4 so 1 set is all you need for 1 bike.
Good info. Thanks. I’m actually looking for something a bit thinner than std grip tape, though. The search continues…
I am also very curious as to how these grips work out. I am thinking about putting them on my new build and think they would look good and hold up better than tape.
Ky water based lube works great for this type of stuff, it dries clean and if you dont get it right can be reapplied, hairspray cam get tacky and inhibit future tries
.
I have a set of these in black/white
They’re not bad and do what they’re supposed to, however, the black portion is actually glued on to the white base. My hands sweat a lot and I have noticed the black portion is starting to peel away on one of the grips.
Easily fixed, but still.
I got them on using hair spray, it’s a tight fit over the shifter cables but they haven’t moved since.
Thanks PDK. WD-40 did the trick. I was able to slip the grip on over the shifter with no problem at all, and you are spot on about the rubber now being tacky. Thanks again for the great tip.
Glad it helped!
