Problems with HED3 and rain?

With a race coming up this weekend and the forecast getting worse and worse, should I worry about racing a 1/2 IM on my HED3s? I’m only worried about the state of the wheels and not any handling issues. Will water be able to work its way into the wheel or bearings at all?

Any thoughts on this?

Huh?

I wouldn’t worry - never tried it, but I would take them in the rain, if I had to
.

Raced on hed3s for a year- never had water get in them…not sure how water COULD get in them…if anything, they are MORE sealed rather than lesss sealed than normal wheels (no spoke holes). Where else could water get in? remember to get in through the bead its got to fight 100psi of tire pressure…

Rain, snow, sleet - I’ve done it all on H3s. if you are out a lot in crappy weather you might get water in the bearings. If they get gritty - replace them. they are cheap and available about everywhere. -Andy

Thanks, I guess I figured as much. Bring on the rain! (Ok, just kidding if the weather gods are listening…)

Just make sure to tape the valve hole and no worries.

Funny, I was just wondering about that opening… thanks!
