My HED Cliplite Aerobars are in use for some 12 months now. I like them very much but there is a problem with the arm rests. As there is no paint on the upper side of them water/sweat seems to have affected the carbon. The result is that the arm rests are not horizontally any more but rather point downward. I have attached a pic in order to compensate for my lack of a better description. Sorry, I’m no native speaker.
Can’t see the pic but I know what you are talking about. Mine did the same thing after only a few months. The carbon needs to be a little thicker or something. Call up Hed and tell them what is wrong. They sent me a new pair free of charge. I’ve been eyeing the integrated HED bars but those armrests look like they may have the same problem. Bottom line…call HED. They have great customer service and will get you a new set pronto.

Thanx! I just sent an email to the European distributor in Spain as I’m from Germany. Let’s hope the spanish guys are as nice as the americans.
Tracy went through three sets before we just switched to some F-19s. It was weird because it was only the left one. Our LBS and Hed replaced them everytime but after the third time, it just became too much. With that said, I’ve just put them on my tri bike and have had them for almost two months, so far, no problems.
I just spoke to Chris in service at HED HQ. He is not aware of any arm rest issues, but mentioned that he would take care of any issues. Ask your distributor/retailer to contact HED.

Thanx very much for asking the HED USA people!
I sent the arm rests to my German dealer alreday and he promised to forward them to HED Europe. I’ll post the results!
The new armrests arrived at my place yesterday. The HED Spain people just sent a new set of armrests.
It was just the armrests in the envelope, nothing else. I didn’t get any explanation of whether the problem was known.
But as long a they replace the stuff without problems, it’s ok for me.
I’ll actually be in San Diego Feb-April 07. That’s a little closer to Canada than Frankfurt/Germany. If you want to come over for that beer, you’re always welcome. Whether you actually had a hand in this or not!
