Problems with Computrainer

Anyone else experience this?: I’ll try to start riding on a course, the biker will show that my legs are spinning, but the biker won’t move. It just stays put, and there is no speeds or watts recorded. Only cadence is recorded. But the bike won’t move.

Is this a glitch in computrainer that sometimes occurs or just a problem with my particular computrainer? I’ve had my computrainer for about a 1 1/2 years , but have only recently started to experience this.

Thanks.

It’s off season, maybe you are not pedaling hard enough

(kidding…)

I would think about re-loading the software program again and see if that corrects it…

I think I had that problem and traced it back to a bad DIN cable (the one that goes from the unit to the handlebar controller). We have two so it was easy to isolate it…

is the message “No Communication” onscreen?

rmur,

no, there is “no communication” message on the screen.

I think it may be a bad cable as well, now that you mention it. I’ll order a new one and hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks.

I’m sure you have already checked this, but, in case you haven’t, these cables tend to back out of their sockets rather easily. You may want to make sure they are plugged in firmly at the load generator and the handlebar controller before laying out for a new cable.

My error (and frustration) has to deal the Topo/GPS course creator.
Basically, it cannot convert from .gpx format to .3dc, the CT format.

I continue to get the following error:
“topoGPS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
I continue to get this error, even after upgrading to the BETA version, as recommended.

I’ve submitted a trouble ticket to CT. No response yet.

Anyone else run into this?

Can you find the problem area in the cable? If so, why not save some money and repair the cable yourself?

wiggle the cable around while pedaling and riding, you may get some intermittent connection.

Any cables can fail if you have to route them “severely”. This can happen with the Din cable to the handlebar pod, if you insist on putting the pod in such a position that requires jamming or pinching or tight-radius bending of the cable at all. They fail quicker if you are putting the pod on and off frequently. I use a modified music stand that cost me $15.
