I replaced the battery to my Timex watch and now the beep sound will not work (and yes, it is turned on)… so, somethings not right.
I have replaced a regular 100 lap Timex IM watch (not S+D) batteries in the past and have not had any problem … but, I have also had the beep not work in one prior battery changed some time ago… when, that happened I didn’t really care since it wasn’t an expensive watch. However, the Timex S+D watch isn’t very cheap. So, I am hoping someone has had this Button Beep problem before and was able to fix it.
That’s odd. My S&D watch just started acting very weird also–it doesn’t beep when you press any buttons and it dies when you press the “sync” button (to sync w/HRM or S&D). The screen eventually comes back after a minute or two…but then it has reset itself to 12:00AM. If replacing the battery doesn’t do the trick, I’ll be contacting Timex. Will let you know how it goes.
I was warned on replacing the battery before it was TOTALLY dead. I had it done anyway because it was going blank, as poster #2 describes. Sure enough, ti shorted. I contacted Timex by E-mail and they gave me a new one for $30. THeir customer service department has been very responsive (also when I had problems with the GPS Unit).
Interesting, thanks for that info Monk. Maybe I’ll contact them and see what they recommend. My first experience with their CS was not pleasant. Long story short, the buttons went haywire. So I had to send it in for repair/replacement, which was free, but took 4 weeks. I would’ve gladly covered the cost of a new watch up front (to be refunded upon receipt of my damaged watch)…but that wasn’t an option. Anyways, we’ll see how it goes this time.
I’ve had that problem a couple time before when changing the battery on other Timex Ironman watches…but I don’t recall what the specific problem was. I think it was something to do with the not having full contact betwen the back and inner electronics of the watch or something. Take it apart and try and reassemble it paying attention to how everything lines up. I think one time I might have had the back on upside down?
An update to my post earlier about my S&D watch acting up. Called Timex describing the problem, they said send it back with $7 and we’ll replace it. It was received by them on Friday May 27th, and the new watch arrived on my doorstep today, June 3rd. A+ to Timex CS this time.
