Probably a longshot here but...vintage early 90s Schwinn paramount FS or FT

Selling my beloved Paramount road bike. It’s been lovingly cared for and upgraded twice (now has the correct vintage 600 ultegra 7 speed on it). Lugged Tange cro moly steel frame, true and blue. 56 centimeters C-T. It’s a PDG-3 series bike so not one of the Waterford, WI made bikes. That said it still has that magical light and lively ride that great steel (and paramounts) are known for. Bike is in superb shape considering it was made in 1992, a few small paint scuffs here and there but no dents, crashes or damage to the frame. No reason why this bike won’t go another 20 years for ya! Selling to fund my tri habit…but I would perhaps consider a partial trade for a cross bike. I’ll get some pics over the weekend and post em. Asking $575…

That is a partial trade plus cash for a cross bike…looking for something midrange at least
.

if it was smaller . . . definitely a classic.

if it was smaller . . . definitely a classic. yeah sorry to see it go but getting to that place where two or three event specific bikes make more sense than multiple road bikes.

Looking forward to pictures I might be interested.

Wow, getting this all polished up I am feeling a bit more attached than I originally thought I would be. Dang. Buy this quick so I don’t reconsider selling eh? I really don’t need four bikes in the stable. Here are a couple of pics. It’s rainy here so no outdoor glamor shots as of yet. But you get the idea of the kind of condition its in and what it looks like overall. It still has a short punch list of things I’d want to do on it to elevate it to “fully restored” from merely a great riding road bike. But absolutely rideable and enjoyable as is, you could put a better saddle and some clipless pedals on and ride a century tomorrow.

-missing the stem top cap, its gonna be a 3TTT one that I seem to remember floating around shops I’ve worked in all the time. Unfortunately none floating around my current (home) shop. Its not like a modern threadless top cap that is a needed item but a small little plastic piece that goes in above the bolt holding the stem into the fork. Cosmetic.
-About the saddle. It is, well, a bit rough to say the least. It was my old hardtail seat for many races back in the day and I grew fond of the lizard. So I kept it when I quit mountain biking and sold my Stumpjumper. You’ll probably want to swap it out for a selle italia turbo or something like that if you are wanting to finish the restore or just something comfortable and not ratty.
-Wheels are not “correct”. Should have some 600 Ultegras with Aspins or Mavic gl330 tubulars…but those are a bit hard to find in good shape these days and way more hassle than the Xaeros on it now for a ride around bike. The Xaeros are light and durable and easy to get a tire on
-about ready for some new bar tape.
-the dust caps on the crankset are not originals. They were ones I made a long time about to thread in with a pin spanner. They dont quite sit flush and it annoys me but I have yet to do anything about it. Another little part you’ll need to snuggle up to your LBS guys to have them dig out of their parts stash in the basement if you want it to be perfect. But these are fine. Heck running them commando style is fine too if these annoy you.
Thats about it. You can see why parting with this bike will be good for my OCD

Hard to make out but the paint is blue with red splatter, classic late 80s style (despite the 1991/92 build)!

Bump. Really open to trades on it. I’ve had some local interest but nothing solid as far as a cash offer that’s reasonable. I’m still interested in a cross bike (53-54 cm would probably fit the bill). Also looking to grab a sub9 rear…obviously the latter would be a very partial trade. What else do you have if not? I can probably be convinced I need just about anything
