do police take them to jail for fraud as if someone else may get escorted by police from their job if fired? I know through the landis thing that there is a trial about who won the tour etc etc. BUt what other concequences for doping? I saw the picture of moreni being escorted away? Was that a measure taken to avoid him from hiding any other doping material he may have brought to the tour? I try to focus on the good of the sport and not follow the dopers after they get caught, but recently. .DAMN!! Now i’m interested to know exactly what happens afterwards. Like I said, prob a stupid question but I don do a lot of research on this stuff. .
Thanks
I suspect that the police are there more for crowd control. Depending on the country, usually you are not in any legal trouble. In some countries you can be prosecuted for “sporting fraud” and be fined and jailed. Depending on the nature of the offense you can also run a foul of varius drug laws.
That’s what bothers me about the Barry Bonds defenders. Steroids may not have been against Baseball rules until a few years ago, but they were against the law in the US unless properly perscribed by a Docter for a legit reason. It seems if you have to break laws to improve performance then its automatically against some sort of league rule.
Styrrell
Not that simple, a list of steroids were against the law. The steroids bonds did were new, and not on that list.
Today, anything that acts like a steroid is against the law, so they would be against the law today, but not then.
Also, I feel these laws are terrible ones, an affront to personal liberty, so I have no problem with people breaking them.
