Anyone notice that Mariano Friedick finished 2nd today @ the Valley of the Sun; 22 seconds behind the Felt Riding Nathan O’Neill and Joey Dantoni finished 3rd, 25 seconds back on O’Neill.
No shifters, no rear brake, just a chopped up set of Carbon X bars or Cinelli Angel’s and an old Suntour caliper. Nathan O’Neill had a 55x11 on, I wonder what they used?
Dunno, but local phenom Joey D’Antoni finished right behind Mariano and he was on a fixie, too. It must have been a flat, fast course (see the “stretched out” thread).
**COURSE DESCRIPTION: **The race consists of a 22 km out and back course on a divided, multi lane roadway, having a good shoulder and light traffic. The terrain is flat and fast with some very minor rolling hills (less than 2 meters of climbing per hill) and a good road surface. There will be course marshals and DPS officers at the Start, Finish, and Turnaround. http://www.wmrc.org/Vos04/bible/page4.html
I thought he got 4th at Nationals in the team pursuit. I must have been watching some one else.

It looks to me that shes just scooting back for the climb, someone posted here that its better to scoot back and grab the bars the way she is grabbing them in the climb, just my 2 dumb cents worth. And dont pick on her, shes a hottie, heheheehehehe
“mediocre in a domestic pro feild” I guess I abbreviated my sentiment. Cycles d’Oro is certainly not a DIII or Conti. team.
I think Mariano was the only guy who came close to the qualifying standard at the recent time trials at the ADT velodrome. Their talent pool recruitment is now reaching out to other categories of sport aside from trackies. I’m sure there are a dozen US pros out there who could put down a 4:30 4km, but to drop the other 10 seconds would likely mean a reduction in their road abilities.
