My friends, family, others get me bike stuff for birthdays etc. I bet the same happens to most of us. When it is a silly or pro kit I just wear it. I am just happy they care. This may explain why some people show up in a kit that may get them “judged”. For example " daddy we got you a lance bike suit for your next race and we all are coming to watch you". Hell I’m wearing it.
Yeah, I get jerseys as gifts all the time. Some are nice, some are not. Some fit, some don’t. If I have the opportunity to exchange it for a different size or color when the need arises then I’ll definitely swap, otherwise I just wear it as is.
None of my bike clothes match. I don’t own a single color-coordinated shirt/shorts combo. I’ll rock whatever is clean and sitting on top in my drawer (or whatever is cleanest…)
Those that mind don’t matter, and those that matter don’t mind. That said, it is nice to be able to just ride away from any critics you may have

Everyone here in Norcal wears pro kits, including the slowest recreational riders. Ok, if not ‘pro’ kits, ‘team’ kits count. But you’ll see pro kits at all levels. You quickly learn to realize it means nothing.
Perhaps if I lived somewhere where nobody wore prokits, you’d have expectations if I showed up in one. But round here, not the case.
I don’t wear any of those pro jerseys…too busy wearing a rainbow jersey on every club ride.
IMO everyone can wear what they like (free country). No one is going to confuse any of us for a euro pro. The post that has your panties in a bunch ( http://forum.slowtwitch.com/cgi-bin/gforum.cgi?post=3557981#3557981 ) was about wearing pro kit in a USAC race. Note the question was “how” (not judgmental), not “why” (judgmental).
No, I don’t wear panties : ) I wasn’t responding to just that post but all the post that say something about people wearing pro kits and they pop up often. Now I need a post about people assuming they know what others are thinking : )
