I ts good to hear that there are a few bike ggeks in the pro peleton. Bettini has a Time bike at home he built up using lightwieght stuff that is way under the UCI regulations, he just wishes he could race on it.
I bet it’s MUCH easier to do cool projects like that when you get it all for free!!
most, i think, aren’t bike geeks, and just ride whatever, as long as it fits and isn;t a total sled. i’ve known a few domestic pros who didn’t know much about their bikes at all. they rode and the team mechanics worried about the tech stuff.
i think it’s kinda funny that frankie andreu is doing the tech reports for OLN. He’s doing a good job, probably because he knows everybody. But, isn’t he known as not caring too much about equipment, and pretty much riding what his teams gave him?
