What’s up with the Devil Man? He has been around for a while…
WTF, here he is tied up in a chair with three hotties in bath robes?
Just likes to be on TV, I guess. Being an annual fixture, people look for him. And it’s always on the climbs.
i heard somewhere (don’t remember where) that he was “sponsored” by someone (shimano maybe) and that they pay for him to get to the big races. i also recollect that he is canadian. i’m not sure where this information is coming from. i have no idea how i know/imagined these facts… i’m probably totally wrong.
He’s German and the shot with the woman was for an add in a french magazine. They have been talking about him on Velonews.
Name is Didi Senft (I think that’s how it’s spelled), from Germany (east Germany originally), a sculptor who holds the record for the largest bike in the world. Used to watch cycling on the news and noted that they called the last mile in a stage the devil’s mile. Once the wall came down, he started attending races and has been a fixture ever since at the larger races. He’s seen not only at the grand tours, but at world championships (he was at Hamilton, which may be why the other poster thought he was a fellow Canuck), cyclocross races, etc. At the grand tours, he usually stations himself up the mountain slopes at the hardest pitch.
Rumoured to not bathe at all the entire time for the race, living out of his camper van. Just another oddity accepted as norm at the tour!

he’s sponsored by LuK, which manufactures clutches. They also sponsor actual cyclists, Hans Rey (mt. biker) among them.
Wow I love this shot from that other thread…
Jeez you wouldn’t wanna fall off that bicycle.

Yes, this pic is me with him in Hamilton. What an honor (for me, not him).
Rear seat’s too tall.

Wonder were you get tires for that sucker (Tufo?)?
Nice vertical leap.
I snagged one of those photos with him too when he was in Hamilton. I heard he showed up at Toronto International Airport in his costume and his only carry-on was a can of paint to paint slogans on the road. The paint was confiscated and he basically lives off the kidness of strangers while on these shoestring budget trips.
