as many/most of you know, we have an easy template for archiving/displaying bike fit coordinates. it’s on your forum user profile. for example, if you look at my user profile (scroll to the bottom of my profile) you’ll find my fit coordinates.
i’d like to apply gentle pressure to pros and their sponsors. i’ve been doing so behind the scenes, but now i think it’s time to honor those who understand the tools of their trade, and have both taken the time to do this. accordingly, i’ll update the list below as i am apprised that a pro has already, or has just recently, added bike fit coordinates to his user profile. the list is below, please post, or email me, or PM me, and alert me to what i’m missing:
Torbjorn Sindballe’s Argon E114
Jordan Rapp’s Felt DA
Sergio Marques’ Trek Equinox TTX
Brandon Marsh’s Cervelo P3
Linsey Corbin’s Scott Plasma 2
Brad Seng’s Felt DA
Lars Finanger’s Isaac Joule Aerotic
Andriy Yasterbov’s Valdora PHX
Michael Lovato’s Kestrel Airfoil SE
Bjorn Andersson’s Cervelo P3C
Matt Lieto’s Trek Equinox TTX
Steve Larsen’s Cervelo P3
disflamers: No, it does not mean you are unprofessional if you are a pro and you don’t add your fit coordinates here. Yes, I am aware that not all triathletes read slowtwitch.
That said, slowtwitch seems to be (at least this is what i hear) an important place when it comes to conversations about technology; and this is the only place i know of where a format has been established that allows a triathlete to show how he interfaces with his equipment using calculable metrics instead of amorphous prose.
Me, as a former maker of bikes and sponsor of athletes, I think the era of “I ride the bike, and that’s my only duty,” is over. I think in the age of the internet, you have to give a little more to earn your keep as a sponsored athlete. I think it’s important to know not only what bike you ride, but how you interface with it. This puts flesh on the bones of the sponsorship. It shows that you understand your equipment, and that you honor the relationship you have with your sponsor enough to tell the buying public, in concrete terms, about the machine that gets you from the swim to the run.
