I can’t believe toyota is not offering a hitch receiver for the prius, and after having seen some horror stories on the net about folks with aftermarket receivers that deflected the (hot) exhaust onto the bumper plastic ruining/melting it I am not really sure if that route is really feasible.
How do you carry your bikes? I do wonder about the sanity of an automaker that aims a car squarely at a market where a significant % is likely to also ride, and doesn’t provide the means to carry said bikes around easily…
I didn’t notice the pic of the updated hitch mount, looks much less likely to cause issues (although something that asymmetric doesn’t seem as strong as a full bar would be), on the other hand I’d still like to hear from other prius owners here, if they use this particular hitch, others hitches, or other ways of carrying their bikes…
