Princeton 70.3 early registration

I heard from a member of a local tri-club that WTC is offering clubs/charity org’s. a early registration to Princeton 70.3 and the last time they did that the race they offered it on sold out minutes. So if you want in or want to get as a present for someone special to you, you might want to be online ready when it opens.

When is registration?

When is registration?
December 16th… I think. Might want to check website.

Will they promise to have enough finisher medals?

At least enough to include the number or percentage of participants that their analyst say’s will get injured before the race. ;0)

Monday, December 16th at 12 eastern is when I believe registration begins. Any ideas when races generally post race course maps? Princeton 70.3 site still has just a brief explanation. Swim and run are pretty obvious (particularly as I am local and know the park and college) but would be nice to have an idea on the bike.

Not sure but I have a pretty good idea where the bike is going. Pretty sure when all the back up plans (as in oh shit gotta go to plan B or C. ) are finalized they will put up the plan A bike route

I’m still trying to figure out why Ironman does this pre-registration thing now. Is it just so they can say “Hey, we sold out in x minutes” ?? Does that sense of getting something special create an artificial demand?

Seems like the races will sell out regardless. Wouldn’t it be better to get non-locals in the race who would spend more time and money at the location?

I am just trying to give a heads up so my brothers in battle on Slowtwitch have a chance ;0)
.

You think it will be an instant sell out?

I don’t have any figures to go by, but I would think that WTC does not care too much about where the athletes come from and where they spend their money, other than for registration and the souvenir tent. By offering local tri clubs early reg with a slight discount, I assume they can then tap into a big volunteer resource in the local area to help them on race day. The in-kind volunteer hours surely outweigh the $25 discount for local tri club registrants.

I have heard from 5 minutes to a half hour.

looks like I will be online Monday lunchtime if you think demand is going to be that great. how many spots? 2500?

My money is on over a week to sell out…that said, i will be on when it opens
.

No discount. It is 275 clams, same as general entry on the 16th. I think it sells out in a week. But just in case i signed up last night. Perfect race for me, wet suit legal, cool temps, no waves in little lake, fairly flat ride and run compared to Syracuse. Can’t wait.

thought I read somewhere that clubs got a discount. my mistake. maybe WTC should do that, and if they do, you read it here first.
quick question, what is the total cost, including registration, USAT one day license and the lovely (in)convenience fee charged for registration?
need to make sure the account has enough $ in on Monday.

291.50, but i have usat license, so a little more for you.

so total of $303.50 for me, approx. 5 1/2 hour race time = $55/hour to race. some people would say crazy, I say can’t wait! got to love living 20 mins from race site. made this much cheaper than any other WTC option.

I’m still trying to figure out why Ironman does this pre-registration thing now.

It’s all part of their Ironman TriClub Program. Makes sense. Get local clubs more involved means a better atmosphere at the race (club tents en route), more social networking awareness of the race, ensure the race fills up, more repeat business if clubs include it as a feature on their club calendar, may encourage athletes in the club to enter their first 70.3, clubs compete for Ironman TriClub Podium spots, etc, etc.

It’s a great idea. Yes, it can be frustrating for those unable to enter a race because it fills up too fast and they are not close to a tri club so can’t join one, but I think the benefits outweigh this issue.

my coach just created a WTC club team. how do i go about getting access to the club early sign-up?
