Hi,
I’m thinking of running the PEC marathon (http://pecmarathon.ca) and would like to know what its like. Is it well organized, hows the wind off the lake, looks like there would be very few spectators, … How about hotels, any suggestions?
Also, does anybody have a better course map and elevation profile for it (GPX file or Training center file may be?)
Thanks.
Never done the marathon, but have been on several century rides in PEC. Great scenery. Winds can be brutal off the lake some days. Very few spectators and not a lot of traffic.
Lots of B&B’s and small resorts in the area.
I have not done the PEC but friends have. All said they enjoyed it, well run.
NOT a spectator friendly event while on the course. Long stretches of quiet back country roads w/ a lake(s) to look at.
Fairly flat. Think there is one little hill and it’s close to town ~ 2K or so from the finish.
Lots of places to stay in the area - B&B’s, hotels, cabin rentals etc. Either the website or Picton Tourism office would have the best info on where to stay.
Make a weekend out of it and tour the area - Waupoos Winery is excellent as is poking around Bloomfield.
