Louisiana Senator Threatens President Bush
Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Louisiana Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu threatens President Bush with physical violence this morning on ABC’s Sunday morning news program, “This Week”.
“If one person criticizes our sheriffs, or says one more thing, including the President of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally,” says Landrieu.
“The President came here yesterday for a photo-op, he got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now.”
It is a felony to threaten the President of The United States with violence.
No official comment from the White House has been reported.
It is truly amazing why didn’t Landrieu tell Blanco to accept federal aid? Were they both too busy crying. Poor management on the local level resulted in the disaster of evacuation & relief. The Rats are out to blame everyone else but themselves. Truly typical. The media will spin it the opposite direction away from the real problem. Lets have a Congressional Investigation as to why this all happened. The blame will lay on the Governor and all her stupid side kicks down to the mayor of NO. All of them on the take including the poor people.
Isn’t she the school teacher that ‘raped’ that 12 year old Samoan kid, got pregnant…spent about 10 years in jail, got out and married the dude? Seen her picture; Looks just like her
You guys keep talking about funding cuts like some of them have actually happened under Bush. Visit planet Earth. Nothing anywhere has ever been cut by this president. Would that it were so. Just look at the budget for verification of this obvious fact.
The levee that failed was new, all concrete, and recently completely upgraded. Sorry to point out inconvenient facts.
I don’t exactly understand the original post about violence. Looking at Landrieu, seems like an attempt to punch would be better characterized as foreplay rather than violence.
Here is her statement before Katrina hit: Tooting her horn…then things go bad because she stinks as a manager & leader…then blames Bush. What an asshole.

Sen. Landrieu Statement on Hurrican Katrina
**
WASHINGTON – United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., issued the following statement from the Hurricane Command Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"I would like to commend both Governor Blanco and all of the local leaders who have done a tremendous job helping the people of Louisiana prepare for Hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, the reverberations of this storm will be felt not only in Louisiana but across the nation.
Now after the shit hits the fan: Here is this disgrace of a Seneator being grilled by no other then the Liberal CNN news media.
Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu’s brother. What other way to direct the blame is to blame who else for the mess…Blame our President. Great leadership…Hope she gets dumped next election.
As opposed to Bush, et. al. who when FEMA and DHS has failed this country miserably(and yes, this is a national disaster now. Poor planning up front, but once the hurricane hit, responsibility shifted to the Feds) started blaming everyone else like the people that couldn’t get out, all local officials, etc. What an asshole.
No, actually, I mean once the hurricane hit. It became a state of emergency at that point for which federal help was needed. It became a national catastrophe on Tuesday when the levee broke(not to mention, it is extremely disingenuous to say that a levee breaking was a big surprise given disaster scenarios that had been around for years–in other words, with the hurricane coming, with it passing so close to New Orleans, a problem with the levee was quite foreseeable).
What type of federal hurricane help is ready to go right after a hurricane hits in any other location? Should ask the Florida people about this one. I’m thinking the first wave of “relief” is the local fire departments, police, paramedics, etc.
The first response is up to the local gov’t. Ask my wife, she’s a designated first responder for our town. After that, it’s the state National Guard under the control of the Governor. Federal aid is then brought in.
Being in Florida, I can tell you the local officials expect to be on their own for the first three days or so. Don’t expect federal help until after that.
The feds mostly pick up the bills, and they do a really good job of it. At the end of the day, nearly all of the work is done by people who live in the general area of the affected states, as it should be. The federal dollars are out there to encourage specialized resources, like fleets of debris moving equipment to come in and clean up.
Those that do the federal cleaning up, really do clean up. You wouldn’t believe what the guys who hauled away downed trees and such made in Florida last year after the hurricanes. So be it.
What you are looking at is no matter what anyone says the vast majority of the people posting on this topic aren’t even going to read it. Or they are just going to pick out a couple of words, take them out of context and reply based on that.
To me the situation seemed to make the saying “looks like a monkey fucking a football” seem most apt. No one from the mayor all the way up to FEMA and DHS seemed to know what the hell was going on from Tuesday afternoon (actually I would say Saturday morning) until the National Guard rolled in en mass. Once they were there, the general took over and shit started getting done. Before that no one seemed to take charge at any time.
Is the head of FEMA an appointment that Congress looks at? If not, they should probably take a look at the next one cause this one isn’t going to last long and I think a good one would help.
