President Bush commutes the sentences of 2 Border Patrol agents

Attaboy GW!

I would have preferred a pardon, but this is a helluva lot better than nothing!

After 8 years he finally does something almost right. He should have pardoned them!

Those two guys got the shaft and deserved a pardon. I’m sure Bush merely signed what was in front of him, so I can’t hold it against him that they were not patdoned.

“These agents shot someone whom they knew to be unarmed and running away,” said the prosecutor, United States Attorney Johnny Sutton. “They destroyed evidence, covered up a crime scene and then filed false reports about what happened. It is shocking that there are people who believe it is O.K. for agents to shoot an unarmed suspect who is running away.”

Goddamned choir boys, those agents were. I can’t imagine any reason a US Attorney would bother to waste resources on such a prosecution.

How did you get over being haggard Ken? New product from QVC?

From that article, it sounds like commuting their sentences was the right move. Pardoning them implies that the prosecutor, judge, jury and appeals court all got it wrong. Bush is in no position to say that. He denied clemency to many death row inmates on the basis that they got a fair trial. It would be hard to claim that these two agents were denied a fair trial.

Couple of folks said I should change it. I think, though, that one of them was just being funny. Like someone saying they are “fat, drunk and stupid,” and someone else saying “You’re not drunk!”
