Prescription sunglasses recommendation for cycling

Hi. I would like to get some recommendations for prescription sunglasses for cycling. I generally have difficulty with my contact lenses, especially during the allergy seasons and figure I should try something else. Thanks!

Rudy Project has a great line of prescription options.

I have done well with Oakley half jackets.

I also have prescription Oakley Half-Jackets, with photochromic lenses.

Can’t say enough good things about photochromic lenses, although I think the half-jackets look a little dopey. At the price, however, I can live with dopey.

I second the Rudy Project… They have a great line of glasses, many of which can have prescriptions ground into them, or prescription inserts behind the sunglasses lens. You can send your prescription right to Rudy Project, or purchase a pair and take them to your Optometrist. They also have a nice line of “normal” glasses… I have a pair of Murphy’s that I use as my everyday glasses. Quality is second to none, and a little less “cookie cutter” that Oakley et al.

if you’re looking for the low budget option to give it a try. wal-mart sells a decent looking pair of perscription sunglasses for sport. i paid $68 for the frame and $68 for the lenses. can’t beat that. i think it’s called the Liberty Biker, something like this but all grey http://www.bestbuyeyeglasses.com/liberty-sport-biker/131448.html

Hi: I went to the Rudy Project website and found a Optometrist in my area that carried R.P. products. Got my eye exam and glasses in one place. I got the Perception flip ups with the Polar 3FX lens (dark green) and plastic bifocals behind them. They work really great as I can see the small digits on my Garmin 305 Edge while in the aero position and still look up to get a sharp view down the road. Also, for both driving and biking, the flip up aspect is great when entering a tunnnel on a bright day. However they don’t make a yellow lens for this model, but do for other models, and that would be great on a rainy, overcast day. I have used these in several Tri’s and many training rides with good results. Tim

I wear a pair of Nike prescription sunglasses and love em.

I’ve used Smith Moab glasses for about 6 years. They come with 3 lenses (clear, grey, bronze), and use a prescription insert. My wife ordered them from Performance Bike for me–just fax your regular eyeglass prescription in, they do the rest.
