I am looking to replace a 12-year-old long sleeve tri wetsuit. So I tried on a P2 wetsuit and have a few questions.
First, this goofy “sticky” neoprene on the forearm; it probably doesn’t do much in the water, but has anyone had any trouble removing the arms during the transition? I tried the suit on dry and immediately noticed that as I pulled my arms out (and the wetsuit arms turned inside out) the sticky neoprene would ‘grab’ on to itself and make taking my arms out quite difficult. Does this still happen when the wetsuit is a little wet after the swim? Has anyone experienced this or is it a non-issue?
Second, the fit on these things is incredibly tight. I am not a heavy guy, but I basically had to try on the biggest possible suit (one that barely touched the top of my weight range) to get a “breathable” fit. They claim that the suit will get larger in the water and feel better there. Is this for real? How can water affect neoprene other than acting as a bit of lubricant? Water doesn’t affect the stretch characteristics of neoprene. (Or does it?) All mighty strange. Any thoughts would be welcome.
